remembrance, rewards and rhythm...

as saturdays go, yesterday was pretty much off the hook... sun shining over the capital city of the territory made for a wonderful day of walking -- which i did plenty of -- and a scheduled day of activity...

first i faced a journalist conundrum... attending the day of mourning for those injured or killed in their line of work both pulled at my heartstrings and was the topic of my next radio piece... i balanced the two as best possible, respecting that many don't wish a microphone to be placed in front of them during a time of grieving... it's a difficult situation to weigh -- as you know the story is embedded in human heartache, but ethically i felt that some emotions are best left alone... nonetheless, i travelled back to my office to piece together what i consider a solid piece capturing the dedicating day...

by late afternoon, greasy fish and chips was on my mind, as i joined the ball hockey crew in toasting our efforts... a participant with his own restaurant on wheels was our caterer and prizes were awarded as we clung to the warmth of the late day sun in the backyard... being the youngest member of our sports group, i was awarded with an issue of teen vogue -- which i gladly accepted and breezed through cover-to-cover before bed last night...

the night was still young after i'd been filled to the brim with deep-fried goodness -- thus, a trip to the theatre was made... a community establishment with three rows in front, left and right, made for an extremely intimate experience... the musical: "you're a good man, charlie brown"... the entertainment verdict: fantastic... the music, the dialogue and especially the acting was that bit of culture i'd been craving...
