cinematic arousal...

last night i had the pleasure of being one in a packed crowd to take in the banff mountain film festival... the world-touring fest is put together by the banff centre, featuring a vast array of short films from all over the world exploring the lives, cultures and efforts made by extreme sportsmen and women...

from tales of kayaking the length of the mekong, to an ice climber taking on labrador's "freaky" and unstable icebergs... fearless youths free-climbing limestone cliffs to reach their first ascent and mountain bikers ripping through whistler's bike park or showcasing phenomenal abilities on the streets of prague -- this festival opened up the world of the outside in both poorly produced and professional projected works of cinematic art...

for a taste, watch this intro for the festival that played last night... this opening sequence is made up of clips from all 25 films included in this year's world tour... believe me, it's an exhilarating breath of fresh air...
