sense of direction...

a week ago, when i wrote of north, i truly meant north... last monday, a job possibility came to me in the form of an intensely flattering email -- current affairs radio reporter... a position i was recommended for, thanks to a past professor who believes in me... small catch: it meant relocation to the yukon... whitehorse, to be precise...

at first i examined the possibility as a non-possibility... i thought, "me, yukon? nah..." literally... it seemed like a crazy scheme of life that i wasn't built for... it seemed like a topsy-turvy switch from a busy city life of bustling and competition, to a laid back frosty life with a pace competing with that of snails... "could i?"

pondering got the best of me and i decided that yes, i could... i was prepared to whisk myself off to the artic cold if this job possibility transformed into an offer... unfortunately the spot needed to be filled immediately and my offer of employment came a few days too late... thus, i'm on the back burner for now... the option may resurface come mid-june and a northern outlook would then flood my city brain once again...

my veins usually pump with safety and choices that are primarily thought through and pre-planned... this time, i truly think i'd prepared myself for spontaneous action... unfortunately, the stars did not aline... it's funny how in hypotheticals i thought i'd never wander due to the comfort level i've established for myself... what i forgot is that sometimes life kicks in...
