2006... in a nutshell...

no introduction is really needed for this post... it's simply a collection of memories, my memories, that built the walls of 2006 in my life:

1. felt the proud ownership of being an editor... got through the stress of its head-honcho status...
2. learned about atlantic canada through literature... now i crave to witness its waters...
3. got paid to blog...
4. wore a dress that made me look like a movie star, even though i spent the evening in it wrongfully feeling sorry for myself...
5. watched as my english professor played the fiddle... he serenaded us as we fell into complete and utter silence...
6. attended my first drag show... and was obviously snitched out as being one of the straight girls...
7. lit candles, drank tea and fell captive to some great prose...
8. was brokenhearted... twice...
9. grew further apart and closer to some of the many souls that surround me...
10. graduated from four years of friends, experiences, stress, encouragement and life...
11. accepted a bachelor in journalism diploma without face-planting on the stage...
12. made homemade maki rolls for the first time...
13. got teary-eyed at leaving ottawa behind...
14. worked in fine dining... it still grosses people out that i remove my tongue ring for hours at a time...
15. went to punta cana...
16. another fine canada day in ottawa... ghetto pool party and all...
17. reopened personal pain that should have remained firmly shut...
18. one huge speeding ticket that was few kilometers away from license loss...
19. caught small mouthed bass in the sun...
20. witnessed a friend blossom into a woman with the sweet proposal and a promise from her one true love...
21. witnessed a friend struggle through loss...
22. put another intern notch in the journalism belt...
23. remembered a life i miss when i was given a small taste of it once again...
24. experienced the most intense retail battle of my life...
25. fell deeply... in love... this time it's different...

sometimes when i look back at it all, it doesn't seem like i accomplished that much in a year... the time i had was spent fighting my way through that middle ground status between adulthood and playful twenty-something... i enter 2007 without a job in my field (yet), with a man i love and with aspirations to make it another year of simple, blissful memories like the past one...
"what's simple is true"...
