here's my annual year in review post... i can't believe i'm back in ottawa, having just experienced my last holiday break of my university career... it was great to see so many missed faces and spend so many nights having an utterly fantastic time... all in all this past year was pretty epic, which makes me even more intrigued as to what 2006 hold in store... in no particular order, this was my 2005:
1. interned for the entertainment section at FLARE magazine... fuckin' incredible...
2. was published in FLARE magazine from august - november...
3. went snowboarding for the first time at breathtaking mont tremblant...
4. slung pints at my neighbourhood bar, which was a healthy mix of immensely entertaining regulars and some fantastic co-workers...
5. my other older brother married... bringing my sister-in-law count up to two...
6. celeb sightings: esthero @ the bloor st. aritzia... members of billy talent @ the cock and pheasant...
7. many hilarious nights of drinking, dancing and debauchery... including my first visit to a gay bar...
8. made friends and enemies multiple times with red and white wine...
9. got addicted to celebrity gossip blogs and online music mags...
10. went to an impromtu high school reunion with full FLARE bragging rights...
11. went for a strangely disorganized interview at fashion television... eva pigford (america's next top model winner - season 3) was being photographed only 10 feet away from where i sat...
12. interviewed a prominent canadian fashion designer and wrote an A+ worthy profile article about it...
13. a few fav concerts: most serene republic, metric, broken social scene, modest mouse, hot hot heat, bright eyes, kings of leon, controller.controller, erykah badu...
14. fell in love... struggled with change... still trying to figure it all out...
15. spent another amazing canada day in the nation's capital...
16. got a job as the fashion and style editor for an online mag...
17. jumped on the yoga bandwagon... nothing says fitness like a downward dog...
18. was offered a position as a teaching assistant for radio journalism...
19. purchased limited edition stella mccartney for h&m threads...
20. acquired two of the best reference letters of my life...
hard to beat... but already 2006 holds a fair number of changes in its wings -- moving out of my ottawa townhouse in april, trying to break into the journalism industry for real, finding new roomies, etc.
when i posted my year in review last year, i mentioned how 2005 would be the year where my birthday would read as 05/05/05, and thus it meant big things... i couldn't have been more la toya jackson psychic on that one... to everyone that made this past year the incredible ride that it was, i thank you and love you...
