all's fair in love of fashion... and hip-hop...

yesterday i replaced my regular boston cream lunch hour at FLARE with a healthy walk with the other interns to H&M at yonge and bloor (at which i bought a new shirt) and a $2 salad from the awesome salad bar downstairs in the behemoth rogers building... when i returned from lunch i received my very first compliment from a fellow employee... in a fashionista haven such as FLARE, it's rather difficult to impress your cubicle buddies... however, sarah, the super nice editorial assistant, enthusiastically asked me where i had purchased my "adorable" soft blue pinstriped blazer with three white buttons and three-quarter length sleeves... "$21 at old navy" was my proud response... i walked away feeling so proud of my outfit, as lame and over-the-top as that sounds...
i'm sure it was all because of the salad...

fast-track to my evening at reilly's in downtown t.o. for hip-hop wednesday night... i went for a friend of a friend's birthday and couldn't have felt more like julia stiles in save the last dance, although i wasn't about to bust out any moves... i spent the night sipping back free bottles of molson canadian and watching in complete awe of how incredible the breakdancers were... suddenly, along came my sean patrick thomas in the form of a promoter named corey... we didn't take over the dancefloor, rather i commented to him how great the vibe was in the place - as it was obvious i'd never been there before... we discussed living in t.o., my friend's hip-hop dj bro named arcee and my life in ottawa with school and my bf... he tossed me a flyer for his upcoming show on june 19th but i lost it... oh well, i don't have enough time to learn some moves before then... although, come to think of it, julia stiles looked kinda awkward in that movie... hmm...
