so here is how my day went:
first i arrive at the chum/city building for my interview... while i'm waiting for robyn to come meet me, matte bable (or however you spell it - that stupid vj that's really annoying on MUCH right now) walks into the lobby to bitch about how h&r block is screwing up his taxes... i was amused 1. because i hate him and wish i had his job and 2. because instead of swearing in my presence, he proceeded to use words like "fleck" when we all knew he meant "fuck"...
next robyn comes to meet me... *side note: i took an hour to pick out something "business-professional" to wear, only to be greeted by my interviewer who is wearing a triple five soul tee with the sleeves cut off, an acid washed denim skirt that was unflattering and grubby camo cons that had seen better days... this is fashion television people!!!! i thought for sure i was in for some trendy oogling of the staff's desireable duds...
as we walked up the stairs she apologized for taking awhile... apparently a last minute photoshoot at the office had everyone in a tizzy... yup, that's right, during my interview eva (the winner of last season's america's next top model) strolled into the office and proceeded to have a high fashion shoot only six feet away from me... robyn told me this never happens... meh... needless to say it was difficult to concentrate when this incredibly gorgeous model - who's hob-nobbed with tyra herself, is flipping a huge mink scarf about her delicate neck...
ahem... ok, back to the interview... i must say it was strange because i knew going into it that i couldn't get a position with them... long story short: they wanted to interview me last week, my schedule didn't allow for that, we arranged a meeting anyway just to meet and who knows... it was super informal... we joked about how, contrary to popular belief, being an intern at FT is not about meeting jeanne, interviewing alexander mcqueen and trying on designer dresses... i told them about myself... told them about my love for FT and mainly F itself... robyn told me she was really impressed, would love to have me get involved if necessary in any big events where they might need a hand and told me to keep in touch... all in all, i felt like it was a success... i established a new contact and in a year's time that could go a long way... plus, she skimmed through my issue of inside with george on the cover and said: "you don't need us... this is awesome!"
i made my way back to union station with a smile on my face...
and to cap off this surreal day, my friend jon's band (the smear campaign) just organized a gig opening for death from above 1979 this friday in st. catherine's... oh, and i have an interview tomorrow morning at the bar behind my house... tara = overwhelmed... everything's coming up t...
now, time for shut eye...
