i decided to take advantage of the things that i can have tonight and selected something from the "only 20% of your diet" column: steak... after work i purchased two centre cuts of beef, potatoes, green onion, romaine lettuce and the fixings for making homemade caesar salad dressing...
the steaks were rubbed with a combination of pepper, garlic, thyme and a whole assortment of other seasonings... the potatoes baked to perfection and then tossed with butter and green onions... i pulled out the magic bullet (not that one, the other one) and whipped up my first attempt at caesar salad dressing from scratch...
after about an hour and a half in the kitchen prepping and experimenting, my guests arrived... i fed gabe and one of his old roommates this entire meal i'd crafted, completely within my wild rose restraints... both were not only impressed, but cleaned their plates and gabe even had seconds... other than adding a touch of bbq sauce, they kept to the detox-friendly menu and i think were quite surprised...
the bottom line -- that i'm sure i've expressed on this blog a few times since day one -- this detox and ones like it actually are simply introducing you to clean, healthy eating... it's about eating fresh and not from a package... it's about taking the extra time to make a meal, not just warm one up... and with enough onion, garlic and some tender love and care, your whole plate can be absolutely delicious...
seven down... five to go.
