for the first time today i felt like i'd established normal eating habits... my boyfriend and i had the same things to eat pretty much all day, with minor exceptions, so it made me feel like maybe i'm not missing out... eggs, hashbrowns and a tiny bit of bacon for breakfast (i'm allowed pork, okay!), rice cakes with almond butter as a snack, and then salmon, potatoes and corn for dinner... all seasoned to perfection, i might add...
side note: when i met gabe to take the dog for a walk along the trail, he brought me an herbal tea... it was called "chocolate mint truffle" and smelled like heaven... like a mint-chocolate chip ice cream cone; like i was cheating... it was completely acceptable on my cleanse, so i waited for the hot water to cool and took a sip... does anyone else feel like herbal teas smell WAY better than they taste? i was begging, hoping for a flavour to tease my tastebuds into thinking it was dessert time again, when it really just tasted more like regular mint tea...
the toughest thing about this cleanse is that you really do have to be prepared... it's not tough to eat what's recommended because the list is long... what's tough is finding the time -- or rather making the time -- to create your meals each day... we've become so lazy in this world that we often reach to the simple choice... frozen foods, take-out or anything that comes out of a can or box... not to say these things don't often taste delicious and some are even pretty decent for you, but when under the limitations of the wild rose cleanse, they are primarily a no-no... and that's okay... because really it's just kicking my butt into gear to make a balanced breakfast and fire up that stove or barbeque for lunch and dinner... it takes more time, but i'm consistently noticing the results that make it all worth it...
i continue to feel lighter on my feet... i don't have stomach cramps after eating like i sometimes did... i don't feel bloated or lethargic... getting up in the morning is easier and much more enjoyable...
i went to this little grocery/convenience store in town today to see what i could find to spice up my recipes for the remainder of this journey... i found a whole new world of quinoa burgers, brown rice pasta and flour-less bagels... alas, some of the ingredients don't fit under my detox restrictions...
however, while i didn't purchase some of this stuff now, i plan to when i'm done out of pure curiosity... i can't cut all of these bad behaviours out of my life for good... i just know i'd miss them too much... but i plan to try to cut down on flours and sugars... i don't think i ever would have contemplated this or thought it possible had i not gone on this cleanse and realized the strength i have within myself to set a goal and push for it... and that perhaps healthy, clean eating isn't as bad as i'd thought...
five down... seven to go.
