i woke up with ease this morning... perhaps out of pure motivation to get this cleanse started... i was prepared thanks to a much needed grocery shop the night before and the nagging thought of "i think i can, i think i can" pounding in my head...
i'm not going to lie -- taking those pills sucks... i've never been the world's best pill taker anyway, but forcing these ones down requires a stealth combination of water and speed in order to avoid dissolving the tiny ovals on your tongue, leading to your palette tasting like something resembling dirt... six pills, plus 30 drops of this herbal concoction in water down the hatch before breakfast and repeat before dinner... then out came the magic bullet, culminating in a smoothie packed with flax seed and wheat germ... next, a hard boiled egg and out the door i went, ready to dismiss all the food cravings the day would likely torment me with...
it was different and difficult not going into the regular cafe for my regular order, but before i knew it the morning was exhausted and i was on my way home for lunch... spinach, garlic, chick peas, tomato -- a spain-inspired stir fry of sorts... not bad, although i stared intently while gabe gobbled down some yogurt and nearly drooled at the sight of burgers and other delicious treats on the food network (i think i'll have to curb watching that channel for the next 11 days to come)...
while i did feel a little hungry throughout the day, almonds at my desk and my oversized hot pink water bottle helped... and surprisingly i felt energetic and fresh in a different way... by the time work was through i'd already planned my meal of chicken drumsticks, potatoes and broccoli... see, i'm not deprived of EVERYTHING, just most things that primarily come out of a package anyway (and are mouthwateringly delicious)...
truth: i want to invade the pantry right now and chase it all with a bottle of wine, but i think that's only because i'm not supposed to... that rebellious teenager is still very much inside me... otherwise, so far so good.
one down... eleven to go.
i think i can, i think i can...
