i sat at my desk with a slight sense of impatience... i could ever so softly hear the echo of the morning show continuing without me, as i stared longingly at my phone... just as i let out a sigh at the fact that things were transpiring a minute late according to my clock, it rang...
it only took a moment and the voice on the other end went from press secretary to her excellency... the warm, welcoming sound of her voice as she greeted me caused a huge grin to devour my face... the pressure was slightly off because i never had to look her in the eye, but nonetheless, i could feel the momentum of the occasion building up my sense of self accomplishment...
it went smoothly, without a hitch and her responses were just as heartfelt as they were off-the-cuff... in a few short minutes it was all over... i wished her a warm welcome for her sunday arrival and she stated hopes of meeting me while she's in the territory...
and that, in a brief flurry of moments, was my ten minutes -- the governor general and me...
