a few months ago i mentioned the importance of being very aware and careful about how i phrase and what i include in this online portal of personal anecdotes... and, without throwing that out the proverbial window, i must openly comment on my current state of mind...
whether it be family, co-workers or even simple acquaintances, we're destined not to get along with everyone we come across... after all, that's why when it comes to friends or lovers, we choose our own adventures... we weed out those that don't mesh well with us... but parental figures and relatives, management, and/or the world in general don't do us those same favours in the large scheme of things...
"can't we all just get along?" may or may not be a rhetorical question, but i'll answer it here anyway -- no... i don't insist on sounding defeated or overwhelmingly negative, but our genetic make-up and endless varieties of beliefs and personalities creates too many different equations in order for us all to be chums...
however, without common threads, we can still practice respect... one of the worst feelings in the world is to feel as though -- for no apparent reason -- you're not respected... often we too quickly hold grudges or decide things about the people around us... unprovoked lack of respect is both ignorant and undeserved...
everyone in our spheres -- small or large -- need not be our friends... circumstances can often be the only thing that will ever bring us together, but i strongly believe that everyone deserves a chance... and that is never too much to ask for...
