tied to technology...

it was a wonderful feeling, and when i gazed upon the final product i felt a sense of accomplishment... plus, the cute and simple adorned envelope was so much sweeter than any emoticon a google search could uncover...

the other day, i wrote a letter... no, not an email and not a facebook message... this was a full-blown, pen-to-paper, heartfelt and somewhat time consuming letter... remember those? it's so easy for us to consistently get caught up in the world of digital -- and therefore, somewhat distant -- modes of communication... sure, emailing is considerably easier and efficient, but the rush of giving and/or getting a handwritten note in the mail can never compare...

seeing that i've bid adieu to many friends and family a few months ago, i've developed a semi-frequent habit of ditching the computer in favour of my red wonder woman decorated notepaper -- albeit, i write this on my internet blog... um... oops... consider my new found activity to be one part selfish and one part selfless... not only does sending notes, cards, postcards, etc. pretty much guarantee a smirk on the recipient's face, it also could mean personal postage in return for yours truly...

deep down inside, everyone loves snail mail... and as much as a beautiful, informative, emotional email can mean oh-so-much, there's something so uplifting at knowing someone took time out of their self-proclaimed busy schedule to show they care with a bic, sweat and tears...

now, if only i could conduct some of this penchant for penmanship towards that neglected journal of mine again...
