mind wide open...

sometimes it helps to hear how much someone dislikes something in order to understand how much it touched you...
it's as though their inarticulate and unrepresented arguments against it only engage you to feel even stronger about it...
often the likeable is not measured in doses of agreement...
it's difficult to express sometimes why we like, love or lust over something...
just as difficult as it often is to articulate why we don't...

a guy on the o-train looked like the lead singer from maroon 5...
gossip columns lead me to believe he's a player...
i couldn't help but wonder if this guy was too...
on the bus, the woman in front of me had bleached blonde hair...
i stared at it as the vehicle took its corners quickly...
it looked almost like straw -- more like a wig...
from behind she seemed young, although her face spoke of experience...

i'd rather sit than stand...
i've never mastered the art of transit surfing, no matter what i have to hold on to...
a portable stereo is key -- whether it be a cassette or cd player, or fancy ipod...
music in my ears makes the ride seem so much different...
i examine the faces of those around me and wonder if they'd be feeling the same way about our journey if they could live it with the soundtrack pouring out of my headphones...

spring is here, but i still don my winter coat...
tonight i'll wear a skirt to embrace the new season...
in ottawa, you have to embrace when temperatures rise above minus anything...
