battle of who could care less...

you left me waiting by the phone... i'd like to think i'm not that kind of girl...

my overworked tear-ducts have left my eyes puffy like a prize fighter's, as i sit here contemplating where i went wrong... wondering when caring decidedly wasn't enough... thinking about you didn't mean a thing... missing you went entirely unnoticed...

thoughts of you swirl in my mind... what are you doing, wearing, listening to... i hear the songs that remind me of you and become overwhelmingly flooded with tears you don't deserve... your words may seem to say you miss me, think of me, want me... but it's more than obvious that your actions are the truth in all its sorrow...

those that know me tell me you're not worth it... they pull me in for comfort and let me bare my soul -- something i'm much too terrified to do in front of you... i question how it came to this... when the defining moment hit and changed it all... maybe i got too attached, my expectations reached too high and my heart got the best of me... things were much more comfortable when it was easy -- when the distance was comforted by a gentle song and a late night phone call brought a simple smile to my face... lazy mornings and convenience store ice cream runs... falling asleep to music, although you always said you never could... turning over to see your face greeting mine... asking me to never leave...

but i guess while i craved for more of those moments, your focus drifted... maybe i became a type of novelty, something that was fun for a fleeting period of time... that feminine relationship side that i think i hide so well is firmly on display... call me a drama queen... chalk this up as a hyper-active state of sensitivity... nonetheless, it's how i feel... i wish i could pour this out to you... i won't though -- because my greatest fear is that i'm right... that you couldn't care less...
