have you ever listened to something that completely moved you? something that came with little or no visuals... it could have been something witnessed live in the flesh, or simply over speakers in the silence of a room... and while it left some elements to your imagination, it made you feel something powerful... and it made you think...
i'll admit that while i currently work in radio, i'm not one of those people that has spent much time scouring the internet for those gem pieces that re-communicates to a majority of people why the speaker box is such an important media tool... colleagues, friends and family have never been shy about sharing discoveries on the net that make radio come to life... and this afternoon a piece of that world i haven't taken the time to uncover was pushed right under my nose...
without even knowing who created it, or even what it might be about, the audio began to play... i couldn't even tell you how quickly everything else around me faded away and i sat still, completely and utterly attentive... and i can't venture to guess the last time a tear rolled down my cheek as i stared down at the floor simply listening...
september stories is a collection of reflections about 9/11... it examines the impact of the buildings on those that worked there, visited there and lost loved ones there... we've all been introduced to so many memories from that fateful day in history... and while many of those too struck a chord, this piece is something truly astonishing and incredibly beautiful... it's unquestionably worth a genuine listening to... and while it may run 21 minutes, it is time so well spent...
