i'll stand by you...

our conversation began with an endless rapid fire of questions and answers... after all, it had been about 9 months since we'd heard each other's voices... the emails we'd exchanged encompassed a lot about what we'd been doing, what we'd done and what we had planned, but this was an unedited opportunity to fill in the blanks...

then suddenly, as we'd seemingly begun to exhaust all our queries, your voice took on a noticeable change... a phone call to catch up was rooted in something much more than a recent retrospective and holiday wishes...

when you're far away from family and friends, you often wonder if they think of you... it feels like their love and care is sometimes lost in the distance... so when you then posed to me how much you'd love to have me as a part of your big day, my soul was overwhelmed...

accepting your proposal perpetuates my streak of "always a bridesmaid, never a bride", but i'm willing to let that slide for such an incredible twosome... some don't interpret being a member of "the party" as such a weighty thing... but when those few words came out of your mouth, requesting me by your side, it meant the world...

it's an honour, a pleasure, and undeniably worth the flight...
