bundled up tight and armed with a small saw, we set out to find our perfect tannenbaum for our quaint northern living room... i envisioned a modest little "charlie brown"-esque tree... after only minutes of driving we found it -- standing all by its lonesome on a snow-covered mountain...we rushed home with our newly found decoration, brushed off the clinging snow and set it in a glass beer jug teeming with water... i began to tear out the pages from a gossip mag, cut the celeb shots into strips and linked them together like i'd learned in my preschool days... meanwhile, he crafted a little star from the delicate tin of a beer can... found red ribbon was chopped into smaller lengths and tied to various branches in bows...
with no gifts yet wrapped for each other, we simply piled our liquor store stock-up under the tree... (during the holiday season, everyone knows that's certainly a gift that keeps on giving)... now, after one package from far away arrived and i pulled out some newspaper to wrap surprises for the mr., we've got a little pine exploding with goodies beneath it...
and my childhood stocking hung from the bookcase with care...
