dollars and sense...

a completely unexpected conversation occurred today, during the most unusual setting... naturally something breaking the norm of my day-to-day got me to thinking:

accomplishments become less than to us when we've looked at them for too long, discussed them too often in interviews and written them too consistently on resumes... the fact that those accolades are a part of one's self is lost in the feeling that they are all we'll ever be...

or sometimes the exact opposite -- that desperate feeling of knowing you could do a job to its potential and more, but you're left with nothing but rejection condolences and reverted back to the drawing board...

dead end interviews and unanswered resumes and cover letters are enough to make one feel invisible and defeated... but perhaps it comes down to the medium and not the message... like cattle we file through job boards as though they're the be-all and end-all to the next step in our professional life... beyond the boards though lie thousands of potential employers that don't even know that they're looking for you...

you're repeatedly your own worst enemy -- and also your own best seller... the struggle is realizing your worth and never negotiating on price...
