the title's not that clever, but i'll continue anyway... since i arrived north of 60, i've taken to catching up on some authors i'd always meant to devote some time to... well, actually that quickly turned into just one specific author who i'd once seen a cbc sunday bit on and had heard the buzz around...
each novel is in and around 200 pages -- and usually devoured in two or three days of loyal reading... his plots are focused on humanity and he always manages to get me right where it makes you misty-eyed... not to mention i inadvertently align his prose emotion with my own...
i first read tuesdays with morrie when i was living on my lonesome... its words and i had a many a coffee together... it spawned a realization within me that it's ok to be strong and sometimes weak... when i moved on to for one more day i had just seen my own mother for the first time since putting an abundant amount of kilometres between us... i told her she needed to stop mothering me -- calling so much and worrying about if i can do this... thankfully not my last words... and lastly, i completed the five people you meet in heaven just last night... the past week has left me questioning my own role in the big scheme of things and now i feel i'll watch more closely, attempting to figure out who my guide posts will be...
if you've never read a word of these three novels, you'll be lost in my rambling... but that's ok... because even though i know this is published online for eyes to see, sometimes i think i'm only writing it as part of my own ventilation system...
love, like rain, can nourish from above, drenching couples with soaking joy. but sometimes, under the angry heat of life, love dries on the surface and must nourish from below, tending to its roots, keeping itself alive.
