i knew this was going to happen, but it still doesn't make it any easier... i packed three full bags of wardrobe, even though some poked fun at my efforts -- saying that most of what i own will be rendered obsolete... even donning a sequin speckled top at my going away party had members of my social crowd remarking that i'll stick out like a sore thumb 'round these parts...
couture, or even a creative version of it, has practically faded into oblivion and traded for comfort and the cold-factor in whitehorse... i wouldn't dare saying something like "houndstooth" at the risk that i'd be recommended to the nearest dentist... spending afternoons shopping for fashion is more of a challenge than common activity... it seems as though the only outlet that shares my point of view is the fashion mag section at mac's fireweed books -- where there's never a shortage on harper's bazaar, elle, vogue or nylon (i gasped when i realized they even stocked the latter)...
don't peg me as the brand name hussy with her head in the couture clouds though... i've never been a slave to style, i simply enjoy it -- like those with fetishes for recreational drugs or jagger-bombs... the only designer labels i even own are due to their foray into cheap chic a la h&m... i'm a devoted fashionable femme... so sue me...
other than one shop on the main street that boasts guess purses and a few trendy-ish denim lines, it's slim pickin' -- unless i revert back to my "ode to skater girl" look from years past... i mean, it's not that i even need another closet-bound item -- this is just a panic state that i'm in since leaving the big city and its fashion district behind...
felt-lined boots got nothin' on my smoky-grey, soft, ruched leather ankle boots... well, except that right now in the snow-covered north, you can only feasibly wear one of those choices... le sigh...
