usually i don't sleep well... i wake up constantly, take forever to actually fall asleep, or i wake up feeling like that whole evening of eyes tightly shut was a waste of time... my body, my mind and my soul feel restless; call it an insomnia hangover...
this morning that all changed... i rolled over to wipe the crusts from the corners of my eyes, wondering why i hadn't been roused by my blisteringly loud alarm clock... it was 1:15 in the afternoon... i don't sleep in, really... i'm generally one of those "want-to-have-my-whole-day" type of people... when i wake up that late, i feel like i'm rushed to get anything done and don't have the luxury of down time... especially when it's sunday and everything closes up shop by 5:00...
although my late wake killed my prior plans to waltz through the andy warhol exhibit at the art gallery, as i squirmed in bed i realized how unbelievable i felt... not an ounce of aching, tired, restless sensation... maybe it was the semi-grueling 10+ hour work day i'd had, or maybe it was the ambient sleeping playlist that was coming from my ipod -- regardless, i'd fallen into the deepest sleep i'd had in months, maybe years...
nonetheless, i spent my only day off in the laziest ways possible... a late breakfast/timely lunch, trip to shoppers for some cosmetic replenishing, glass of wine with a girlfriend and dinner with mommy dearest... now, as butterflies gently swirl in my stomach on the eve of my first day at descant, i sip a cup of homemade java and glance excitedly at my bed -- only this time i have my fingers crossed a pleasant and memorable dream enters my perfect slumber equation... i want to have my cake and eat it too...
