condolences, or something more than "sorry"...

when i read your online monicker, i thought something was up... it didn't blatantly tell me the worst, but its allusion was enough for me to put the pieces together... i wrote you words to say i'm sorry, but i know they cannot repair what has happened... loss doesn't even describe what you must be feeling...

your family doesn't deserve to be struck with such a painful void within its tree... as a young man, you don't deserve to have to say goodbye to your true hero and number one fan -- your father figure and male mentor... i hate that your world doesn't feel the way it used to... i wish there was more to say or do... i wish i could undo what now hurts you...

please know that i am here... for anything, nothing or everything...

in situations like these, everyone is speechless... what to say? what to do? how to make things better? we rhyme off the same emotion-filled sayings and cliches in hopes that they'll make a little bit of difference... although i know condolences are comforting, i feel like sometimes they're useless and intangible... so, i hugged my father tonight... because i felt like it was something you wanted me to do...
