it'd been a few weeks since i'd seen my mother, so we decided to get together and do what we do best: movie, lunch, shop... first things first, we went to check out the devil wears prada -- verdict: go see! meryl streep was perfect as the ice-queen editor and although i've never thought that anne hathaway was a looker, she pulls out all the stops post-makeover in the flick... thanks to my dear friend aine, i had the opportunity to read the book last summer (coinciding with my stint at FLARE) and loved every minute of the read... the film does it great justice as far as i'm concerned and is a major go-see if you enjoy fashion and despise snooty bitches...next, after a scrumptious dinner of lemon marinated pork chops and a bottle of my new fav red wine, r.h. phillips shiraz, we crashed and prepared for a day of pounding the pavement at yonge and bloor... not only was it a few blocks shy of aine's old living grounds, but it was the exact locale of my old stiletto stomping grounds from my FLARE days... the sentimental moments were aplenty, as we dined at saigon sister and peeked around at the latest fashions in zara, h&m and the new-ish winners... b-list celeb sighting: edwin from solo and i mother earth fame driving around in his convertible mini cooper with a young (daughter-aged) blonde cutie... i certainly hope he's not robbing the cradle...
what i wouldn't give to fill my lunch breaks once again waltzing around those streets, trading my stilettos for practical flip-flops and grabbing a vegan meal at maggie's... it was like a whole other lifestyle when i look back at it now... pubs after work and, every now and then, a cocktail party with the tab going to rogers communications... ahhhh... what i wouldn't give...
