are you being served?

i've realized that it would be so easy to just fall into an extreme sense of comfort with the life i currently live... no worries about rent payments, a grocery stocked fridge, a day off here, a split shift there, cash in my pocket all the time with no bones to pick with my unscathed bank account... making $30+ an hour on a busy night and taking pleasure in the smiling faces of a regular couple that enjoys the way i marry escargot with elated humour... plus, the shifts never stretch much longer than about 5 or so hours and i always have saturday days and sundays off...

alas, although my 'rents are easy to deal with, living at home is slowing taking its toll on my independent nature... furthermore, it's not a waitress' life for me... at least not forever -- i think... i don't shy away from admitting that it's great cash and tremendous hours and i'm never ashamed to say i serve mississauga's most powerful at our fine eatery... it's just that although money is a life priority in some respects, my dreams will only be captured once i make my own living doing what it is a feel i've been meant to do... i may take a flawless order and place a mean entree on the table, but waitressing is not my ultimate calling... well, i hope not... it's one of those "for now" gigs... one of the best ways to get by while i strive to bulk my finances up to toronto apartment/townhouse status...

it'd be easy to give in and do this forever, through spring, summer, fall and winter... ask for more hours, work like a dog and have it take the place of the busy education lifestyle i once led... however, at the end of the day life with a tray won't keep me on my aspiring toes...
