*the following are actual things i wrote while sitting in the frankfurt international airport for what seemed like forever...
june 29 - 10:19 a.m.
i've been here since 7:00 and of course i find out now that my flight is delayed... all i wanted to do was get home and embrace the ones i love, returning to the life i left for awhile... alas, after waking up early, being on time to the metro and then to the airport for check in and everything, they delay my flight by about four hours... could be worse, i guess... it's really not a huge deal, but just means more time to kill... and the frankfurt airport -- at least the area that i'm in -- is not the most happening place...
i'm tempted to have a nap... also, desperately trying not to use up the juice on my ipod, so i just sit here restlessly... i always find it fascinating how people deal with situations like these... a few americans sitting near me have chosen to complain loudly amongst themselves for nearly half an hour now, which is lovely... needless to say, it didn't change the departure time of our flight... sure, it's frustrating, but what are you going to do?
after not really knowing why we weren't boarding, a flight attendant finally came to the gate to let us know about the delay... at least the airline is giving us a meal at a restaurant in the airport to help pass the time and try to rid of some of the anger among the passengers... i'll get home -- sooner or later, i hope...
11:51 a.m.
scratch that... there's no such thing as a "free" meal... the line up to get through to the other portion of the airport where the restaurant is was so long and chaotic that i skipped it altogether and used up the last of my euro on a frankfurter... now i can't get to my new gate because it is too early... don't you just love air travel? once again -- i'll get home sooner or later... i really hope...
12:26 p.m.
the follies continue... now we're blocked out of our departure area because of a security breach... a guard carrying a huge machine gun ushered us out of the area and into a small spot near the duty free, so i made the most of my time and tried perfumes... i'm supposed to board in about 45 minutes, but i'm banned out of my departure gate right now for who knows how long... fingers crossed...
1:17 p.m.
now waiting at my gate, ticket checked, holding my breath until i'm on the aircraft...
sometime around 3:00 p.m.
we. are. in. the. air. i was beginning to think it might not happen... after waiting at the gate then we had to take buses to our gigantic plane, which meant more line ups and more waiting... we finally took off and now i'm closer and closer and closer to home by the minute...
