you may or may not have heard that some transit buses in england have attracted some attention -- and not just because of their cutesy red double-decker style... hundreds of british buses are emblazoned with a controversial advertisement that reads:
"there's probably no god, so stop worrying and enjoy your life."
to be honest, it's not the most offensive thing i've ever heard when riding transit (have you been on the ttc?)... besides that, it's not really offensive, in my opinion... it's a stab at humour; it's an alternative to the opposing religious billboards; it's an atheist viewpoint and quite frankly, it's allowed...
seeing there is a possibility it will infiltrate canada, cbc's the point had a couple of talking heads on today to scrap about the topic -- and they delivered... one of the guests even stated that the ads were simply stupid and that there's little point to them... in the same breath he mentioned that there is little discussion about faith these days...
ummmm... isn't that exactly what this ends up promoting? it's not telling you to believe there is no g-o-d... it's simply poking at a lifestyle and trying to get people to talk (which is also a strong suit of any good advertisement)... if PETA can throw paint, then atheists can crack jokes -- no harm, no foul... everyone doesn't have to like everything...
