she shoots, she scores...

the last thing i wanted to do after getting home from work at 3:30 in the morning on thursday night was wake up at 7:00 am on friday to get ready for work at FLARE... even though i slept in an extra hour, i made it to the office on time somehow and as i approached my desk i realized that what was usually a bustling office of fashionistas had become a ghost town due to the long weekend... in what felt like slow motion, i made it down to the rogers building tim hortons for a large coffee and headed back to my computer...
hmmm... where's elio? no boss... no way! just as i started to think he'd ditched me and started his own holiday stretch, he bounced up to my cubicle at noon... he'd forgotten to mention he had free passes to see the new indie flick broken flowers that morning and i could have come in late... sleep would have been glorious...
however, things got much brighter as my usual day of calls, research and writing turned into a little spring, er, summer cleaning... you see, we get an abundant amount of advance copies from various book publishers in hopes that we will feature their latest novel or gorgeous artsy coffeetable contribution in our upcoming issue... well, now elio's desk had begun to resemble a small library of chick lit... solution: intern gets first dibs and then the rest of the titles are stacked on the freebie table... sweet! i walked away with too many hot titles to remember... from the latest sophie kinsella and chuck klosterman, to the not-yet-released candace bushnell, i now have a brand spankin' new library of beach reads to explore... i even picked up the odd cookbook and an extravagent ode to roger vivier (dior's stiletto god)... even though i had to stumble home with a huge shopping bag and box overwhelming my arms, it was the best day of semi-work ever...
the icing on my layer cake of literature: elio and i had a heart-to-heart about me keeping touch once i'm gone and he offered up his extremely encouraging opinion that i have a bright future in the industry... oh FLARE, how i love thee...
