a familiar feeling...

she told them all that she was finished with relationships... that she'd had her heartbroken for the last time -- after all, what was the point in letting her guard down again? she swore that enough was enough and she'd forever keep herself carefully out of reach from another serious situation where she could -- gulp -- be smitten...

her body and her heart went on different paths... she questioned where the woman she'd known had gone and how this seemingly cold and detached being had replaced her... while there were so many things swirling around, she still felt empty and slightly alone... however, her mind became clouded by the thought that things had changed and independence was her only key to concentrated happiness...

then it happened... it was like an unanticipated flash... while extremely familiar in many aspects, it felt foreign and accompanied by subtle pangs of fear... all of a sudden she couldn't stop thinking about him... she wanted to see him every day and wondered what he was doing all the time... she found herself glancing at each passing vehicle looking for his... she longed for the next time she'd sit and talk with him... the next time they'd hold hands... the next sweet message he'd send her... the next time he'd hold her in his arms and their lips would meet...

"i've become one of those people" she'd say with a hint of sarcasm to her friends, poking fun at all she thought she'd thrown away with the relationships of her past... she found herself admitting that she wanted to shed the rest and put on a pair of blinders... and while it scared her that this time her emotions had resurfaced, it was also exhilarating, incredible and just the kind of frightening that she realized she might have needed all along... it just took a little time to open herself up to it...
