armed with a 35mm, i slid on my down-filled parka and cinched the neck with a newly acquired hand-knitted scarf... the cool winter temperature was undeniable, but so was the need to get out of the four walls of our apartment... my lenses first caught the simple sight of an abandoned bike delicately covered in snow and leaning up against a frost trimmed fence...
as we set off snapping frames at site after site, we ended up stumbling upon some of the most serene images of our surroundings... fog engulfed the tips of the mountains, camouflaging their peaks from our wandering eyes... a crowd of cross country skiers gathered in the wide open space of a frozen lake -- allowing the crisp arctic breeze to pull their high flying kites, towing them across the smooth surface...
a path, usually heavily occupied in the warmer months, was left silent by the riverside... the wooden stain of a lone and empty park bench sat loudly amongst the trees and pathway blanketed in white...
often times our chosen spots were in a state of such silence that the only sound i'd hear was that of my camera clicking with each touch of the shutter release...
