as the snow swirled outside in a furious rage, i chose to hole myself up in my room with a scented candle, feverishly reading my latest assigned novel... it has occupied the majority of my reading week -- other than some random coffee outings, movie watching, an intimate singer/songwriter concert and dancing with drag queens...
when my eyes drank the last few words on the final 566th page of fall on your knees, i sat there bundled up under my colourful comforter with this overwhelming sense of satisfaction...
it... was... phenomenal...
ann-marie macdonald's words tore open the essence of human emotion; the devastation of pain; the intimate intensity of wrongs and rights... i found myself sighing out loud after certain chapters, wandering my house in a daze as though the events that had unfolded on the pages were real and had changed my thought process...
it's been a long time since i've really taken in fiction this like... too long since i've been gripped by what will happen next and taken the time to really involve myself with a piece of eloquently crafted literature... and, i'd forgotten just how good it feels...
