knowing you're unhappy and making the decision to do something about it are two very different things... there's that period of time where you're in limbo -- wondering if you can make the choice for change and still stay on your feet...
quickly i realized how fortunate i am to be in a reasonably selfish situation... the absence of much responsibility, other than to keep my own self afloat, allows for risky choices and seizing the moment... a full time job with financial security is an undeniable safety net... but safety and happiness don't always come in the same form...
literally relocating for an opportunity comes with some pressure... the job became the focal point -- so what would i do without it? why would i be here? one of the pleasures of a small place is that just about any door is open, at least a little bit... shaking hands and confidence become more crucial tools than a freshly printed resume...
after testing the waters and finding a soft place to land, i came to the ultimate conclusion that i would now search for happiness... saying goodbye was easy -- it felt as though i'd been practicing for months in some ways... stepping into a less defined world of freelance comes with its own set of butterflies, but the hours are already flowing in... and hearing that first radio piece over the airwaves signaled a new beginning and a welcomed change...
