back in march of last year, a man with dirty blond hair and a confident stature walked into a bar... this isn't a joke... as he entered the watering hole, scads of people turned to look and promptly get up from their seats for a hug or a handshake... it was like he was some kind of small town royalty, back to see the folks he'd clearly left behind... while my friend and i sipped our cocktails we didn't think too much of it...
days later, while in a sorry state of emotion, i sought the comfort of a neighbour... suddenly mr. dirty blond waltzed into the house and an evening of drinking and sorrow drowning began... i walked away from the whole situation with basically a new buddy... or so i thought...
months later, mr. dirty blond reappears... on the very evening of this gal's date of birth... in that very same watering hole i was greeted with an elaborate lift and spin hug, not to mention a ride home from this true gentleman... the following day, a belated birthday lunch filled with good conversation, laughter and a seemingly open-ended hug goodbye...
i always love recounting how you meet a love... things always seem to start out so innocent while you dance around the fact that you both decided whole heartedly to work at being together... days after that wonderful lunch date i began the relationship that presently devours my heart on a daily basis... we finally gave in and now i've discovered not only an endless love, but a treasured friend and confidant... the kind of love that makes your heart skip and challenges you to wonder where it might lead you next... a love that shows you what you're made of and uncovers new boundaries, especially new beginnings...
a love that truly captures what you'd always imagined it could be.
