to break away from the everyday in the frigid north, i set my sights on the west coast for a week... tall palm trees, epic-sized entertainment studios, and an undeniable stench of kitsch... otherwise known as los angeles...
in less than 24 hours under the foggy, yet sunny skies of the big celeb city, i'd spotted dave navarro buying dress shirts he'd likely never fully button, ate the most artery-clogging hot dogs known to man, and walked a mile in inappropriate shoes... the whole atmosphere of la-la land was impressionable and different in a sort of indescribable way... not only was i strutting in short sleeves (which i hadn't had the pleasure of doing in well over two months) but i was also catching up with a brother i hadn't truly "seen" in years...
as the week progressed, we sipped on expensive drinks, stumbled upon delicious restaurants, compared our hands and feet with those of famous silver screen hims and hers, and naturally filled numerous shopping bags... l.a. is a huge expansive monster that easily takes days to cover -- west hollywood, downtown l.a., beverly hills and then of course the vintage shops on melrose... rodeo dr. is a strange, yet ultimately satisfying experience... chandeliers actually hang near the streetlights... seriously...
all in all, glamourous? sort of... like any city there's the grimy spots that make you wish you had your own bodyguard entourage... but it definitely had its entertainment industry driven charm... glancing at spots you'd familiarized yourself with on the big or small screen was certainly surreal, from day one to departure...
