me and my king of the mountain...

sometimes all it takes is one situation for you to realize just how much you truly care about someone... this certain situation occurred to me just days ago... my squeeze and i and another couple decided to take a little trip up to mont tremblant in good ol' francais country... the mission: tara learns how to snowboard without breaking any bones and without breaking up with her teacher/boyfriend...

day one: what seemed like a super long drive up ended with a wonderful dinner at moe's (yummy with a capital Y) this place was so good they even brought you out mayo in a squeeze bottle... it doesn't get any better! then the evening was capped off with a few beers and some competitive monopoly... i was a rich bitch with no property which eventually came to bite me in the ass... i also rented my boarding equipment that night... first reaction: "uh phil... i think my feet are way too far apart on this thing?!" "t, that's the way they're supposed to be..." "oh... uh oh..."

day two: up for breakfast at 8 a.m. and i'm already feeling nervous... french toast is not so satisfying when my mind is otherwise consumed with the thoughts of tumbling down a huge mountain strapped to a board... as we drove up to the mountain it became clear that this was one of the most beautiful places i have ever seen... the sun hit every angle of the gorgeous buildings that made up a quaint little village smack in the middle of the majestic peaks... suited in my huge columbia jacket and bright purple snowpants (a steal for $5 from value village) i was ready to go... so we got out there and i soon realized that i couldn't even stand up on this thing... apparantly i left my balance back at the lodge... some tears, many obsenities and countless grumpy pouts later, i hadn't given up (thanks to some careful coaching) and was able to make it down the bunny hill without falling... well, without falling more than once... shower, dinner, tired as fuck...

day three: the final day and the mountain was just as pretty when we drove in as it had been the day before... my bones and muscles i didn't even know i had ached... i felt like people could see my body throbbing... my mission today was to go up on the big hill... the big beginner hill... i started off the morning pretty good other than one flip out trying to master carving with my toes... lunch then big hill... the chair lift made me pee my pants [please note: this is an exaggeration] due to an overwhelming fear of heights, though i managed to smile for a picture on the damn thing... got off, fell, cried, got up... needless to say the big hill was a disaster... phil and i spent most of the way walking down because the flat parts consisted of me falling over and over and over and over again... my butt!!!! i managed to muster up some accomplishments though and every now and then strapped on my board for another try... spent the rest of the day tackling the bunny hills some more... i'm somewhat of a pro at those... car, drive home, shower, eat, sleep...

moral of the weekend is that i believe i have quite possibly the best boyfriend in the world... his patience and dedication towards making the weekend a success for me and my sore butt was incredible... he never got frustrated with me (and i can't fathom how he didn't) and he just managed to make me smile whenever possible... in the end, i think he might be more beautiful than the mountains...
