as a part of an article i'm currently working on i interviewed my friend liz's little sister and some of her friends... they're all at the tender age of 15 right now and although most of them reminded me of myself only a few distant years ago, some things they shared were an eye-opener to how this crazy world of ours really works...
why should a gorgeous young woman, wandering this earth with a good head on her shoulders and dreams devouring her vision feel less than? simply because a girl walks by at school looking immaculate in her expensive make-up, designer wear and louis vuitton purse should not negate all that other girls stand for...
there is a place for those immaculately dressed as well, don't get me wrong... but the point is that women should feel good, if not great, in their own skin... and not because a guy loves the way you look or because in the right light you exactly resemble the hottest celeb...
admittedly it is difficult for me to say that how i present myself each and every day is for me and me alone... i do enjoy the idea of other people liking the way that i look, but on some level we need to stop and smell reality... it's just like how everyone has a favourite flower; we each think something different is beautiful for our own reasons...
we all pick at a part of ourselves that we hate, but i often wonder if we'd hate it even more if we all looked the same... we'd be left to float through a drab cookie cutter world... will nothing satify us?
